Ohio State Recruiting: Urban Meyer Lands Five-Star Cam Burrows of the 2013 Class

Things can’t get much better for Ohio State in terms of recruiting. Even while Meyer is finishing out the 2012 recruiting class extremely well, OSU received a verbal commitment from one of the top prospects of 2013 class, Cam Burrows. The standout cornerback chose the Buckeyes over Michigan, Alabama, LSU and Wisconsin today, according to ESPN

Rivals.com lists Burrows as a five-star cornerback, and at 6’1″, 195 lbs, the product out of Trotwood, Ohio has the size and athleticism to compete for playing time from the get go. He is one of Ohio’s top prospects in 2013 class. Although Burrows is listed as corner, he also has the ability to excel at safety or even the star position at Ohio State.

On the field, Burrows has a nose for the football and has exceptionally soft hands for a defensive back. In fact, Burrows also occasionally lined up at wide-out for his high school team, but his future at the next level is on defense. Even as a sophomore he displayed impressive coverage skills and sure tackling.

The commitment from Burrows is huge for Meyer and his staff. It’s absolutely essential for OSU to get the top talent out of their own state, and to be dominant, they really need to put a fence around Ohio. Losing a talent like Burrows to Michigan or Wisconsin would have been killer, and SEC teams like Alabama and LSU already recruit enough talent without nabbing prospects out of the Midwest.

Most importantly, Burrows is a big-time prospect and will have the ability to recruit other five- and four-stars to join him in Columbus.

A commitment from a player like Burrows is the absolute ideal way to start off the class of 2013.
