Never one to pull punches, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel called out several of his players this offseason because of poor diets and weight issues that affected their on-field performance in 2009.
Star running back Derrick Washington was chief among the offenders.
“Coach Pinkel got a lot of guys right,” Washington recalled. “If you weren’t doing what you needed to do, you’re going to move down on the depth chart and nobody wants that to happen. We got after it and it’s paid off.”
